Currently, the Massachusetts legislature is deciding on funding in the 2027 budget to help those in need with housing, IDs and other services. Please join Boston Share Network and MA Coalition for the Homeless in supporting this legislation.
This one-minute online action is provided by MA Coalition for the Homeless. Please sign and share with your State Senator, Senate President Karen Spilka, and Senate Ways and Means Chair Michael Rodrigues to encourage them to cosponsor and actively support these amendments to the FY27 Senate budget.
One such amendment is:
Amendment #881, "Identification for youth and adults experiencing homelessness," from Senator Robyn Kennedy: This amendment would add $50,000 to the Massachusetts Transportation Trust Fund (line item 1595-6368) to provide free standard Mass IDs to eligible people experiencing homelessness. The amendment also would add an outside section to amend Chapter 90 of the Massachusetts General Laws to establish fee waiver and documentation practices so youth and adults experiencing homelessness can access standard Mass IDs from the Registry of Motor Vehicles.
Boston Share Network continues to advocate for increased access to Mass IDs.
100% of your contribution goes to the shelters in Boston and the clients that they serve.
